3D software developer MAXON opens new ASEAN centre to better serve local markets
SINGAPORE, March 29, 2012 – IM Innovations, a Singapore company with focus on 3D interactive and digital media, is pleased to announce the inaugural opening of its MAXON Competence Centre in Singapore, in partnership with MAXON Computer, a leading Germany-based developer of world-renowned 3D software for the creative industries. The Singapore-based Competence Centre is MAXON's 3rd worldwide and serves as the natural gateway to ASEAN countries, following similar initiatives in Paris and Tokyo. Being strategically located in Singapore at Mediapolis, a media hub in this region, MAXON aims to expand its user base of CINEMA 4D and BodyPaint 3D in Asia, by bringing its technology closer to industry professionals in the creative sector.
A key major project that will be embarked at MAXON Competence Centre is the localization and creation of 3D libraries with an Asian touch, providing users an avenue to create 3D projects using ready-to-use models. With a huge talent pool and emerging demand for 3D creative professionals in various industries, such as motion graphics, visualization and special effects, a Competence Centre in Singapore is undoubtedly a strategic step for MAXON in this region.
"Since becoming MAXON’s partner in 2003, we have successfully developed synergistic partnerships with local institutions, like Temasek Polytechnic and Singapore Polytechnic, to train students from young. This new centre will groom creative professionals and accelerate the transfer of MAXON know-how to Asia via Singapore. Besides seminars and training, we also plan to organise master classes for professionals in the region and undertake project development" states Vincent Ong, managing director of the new MAXON Competence Centre and managing director of IM Innovations.
Harald Egel, co-founder and CEO at MAXON headquarters in Germany adds: "The MAXON Competence Center Singapore-ASEAN, based on collaborative partnerships with the educational partners, users and with support from Singapore government, will create new synergies. It is a significant milestone in our international activities. We will kick-start this new centre with the 3D Asian library development project which will give CINEMA 4D the Asian touch and feel. I am also happy to share that Temasek Polytechnic, which currently houses our ASEAN Authorised Training Centre, is also keen to be part of MAXON Competence Centre Singapore-ASEAN. MCC@TP will focus on capabilities development for both staff and students."
Mr Aubeck Kam, Chief Executive Officer, Media Development Authority of Singapore, says: “By locating this Centre in Singapore, our local animators, students and media professionals have much to be excited about. MAXON is now opening the door for opportunities to learn and upskill with one of industry’s best 3D technology. Hope you can make use of the opportunities available at the Centre to produce cutting-edge work of international standard, and to power future innovation in entertainment.”
