Tripartite Partnership to Groom the Next Generation of 3D Talent

MAXON Computer, IM Innovations and Temasek Polytechnic establish MAXON Competence Centre @ TP

SINGAPORE, 25 January 2013 – Temasek Polytechnic (TP), MAXON Computer, and IM Innovations, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to set up the MAXON Competence Centre @ Temasek Polytechnic today. The Centre is expected to bring together MAXON’s world-renowned 3D software for the creative industries and IM Innovations’ innovative 3D and digital media technology tools, solutions and training & consulting services. Industry professionals, educators and students in the creative, scientific and engineering markets in ASEAN are expected to benefit most from this partnership.

 

A leading developer of 3D software for the creative industries, MAXON is best known for its flagship 3D modeling, painting, rendering, and animation software, CINEMA 4D. Today, thousands of users across the world rely on CINEMA 4D to create cutting-edge 3D motion graphics, architectural and product visualizations, video game graphics, illustrations, and much more. The MAXON Competence Centre @ Temasek Polytechnic will be an extension of MAXON Competence Centre Singapore-ASEAN which was opened in March 2012 in partnership with IM Innovations Pte Ltd. and will focus on capabilities development through CINEMA 4D-related project work, training, as well as staff and student attachment programmes.

 

Commenting on the partnership, Mr Boo Kheng Hua, Principal & CEO, Temasek Polytechnic said: “We are excited about this timely partnership with MAXON and IM Innovations as it will facilitate capabilities development to prepare our students to join the world class talent base that Singapore aims to build in its bid to be a global digital media and entertainment capital”.

 

IM Innovations will offer internships for TP students and opportunities for TP staff and students to participate in the activities at the MAXON Competence Centre, MAXON will continue to provide opportunities to have one TP staff attached to their headquarters annually, and together with IM Innovations, jointly sponsor the Course Medals for TP’s Diploma in 3D Interactive Media Technology graduands.  

 

TP will continue to train its students in CINEMA 4D and facilitate their participation in industry projects and international competitions using the software. TP staff will also stay abreast of the latest CINEMA 4D releases through continuing education and training. They will also embark on CINEMA 4D related projects and showcase their capabilities in the areas of 3D modelling, animation and visualisation.

 

“This is the first time MAXON is including a tertiary institution to be part of our global network of MAXON Competence Centre.  We are pleased to include Temasek Polytechnic, the first tertiary institution in Singapore to embrace CINEMA 4D, in this new tripartite partnership.  It will also be the first time that MAXON is offering staff or student internship at MAXON headquarters in Germany for an education institution in Asia”, said Mr Harald Egel, Chief Executive Officer, MAXON Computer.

 

Mr Vincent Ong, Managing Director, IM Innovations Pte Ltd said: “Both MAXON and Temasek Polytechnic have been strategic partners of IM Innovations since 2003. This new centre signifies our shared objective to develop 3D talent to benefit many different industries. By providing training, internship and allowing them to participate in industry projects we bring to the centre, TP students can develop their competence level required to join the workforce.”

 

One of the first key projects that the three partners will embark on at the Centre is the localisation and creation of 3D libraries with an Asian touch, providing users an avenue to create 3D projects using ready-to-use models.

 

With support from the Media Development Authority of Singapore and tertiary institutions, this partnership will result in the increase in the talent pool for 3D animation, motion graphics, and visual effects for cinematic and computer gaming.

 

The MOU was signed by Mr Boo Kheng Hua, Principal & CEO, Temasek Polytechnic, Mr Harald Egel, Chief Executive Officer, MAXON Computer and Mr Vincent Ong, Managing Director, IM Innovations Pte Ltd. The signing was witnessed by Guest-of-Honour, Mr Seah Moon Ming, Chairman, Temasek Polytechnic’s Board of Governors and Deputy CEO, ST Engineering Ltd.
